Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great success with the tales she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift's love for music started when she was a young age. From musicals for kids to appearing in front of crowds, Swift made rapid progress. When Swift sang The Star-Spangled Banner in front of a Philadelphia 76ers game at age 11. She was already creating songs. The next year she began playing guitar. Swift became inspired to compose her own songs by artists from the country category, like Shania Twain or the Dixie Chicks. Swift left Pennsylvania with her parents in Tennessee to Hendersonville when she turned 13 to devote her time in contacting country labels.
